Legacy of Big Papa BBQ

Fred Sevier (Big Papa)

Fred (Big Papa) Sevier was born in 1946 in Augusta Arkansas. He professed his faith in Christ at an early age and graduated from George Washington Carver High School before joining the Army where he served as an Infantryman and Mess Specialist (cook). He served in the Vietnam War and continued his service in the Army National Guard until 1992. Big Papa later retired from Union Pacific Railroad in 2010. Big Papa was an active member of the American Legion, a Mason, and an avid fisher. He spent thousands of hours perfecting his famous BBQ sauce, mustard slaw, homemade sausage, fried catfish, ribs, and rib tips. He believed that everyone should be able to serve their families and his prices always reflected that. He served his community for over 40 years, one meal at a time. Big Papa passed away in 2019. He lived a full life and was a wonderful example of God’s love and grace to five children, twenty grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. To keep Big Papa’s legacy alive, Herbie and Amy Sevier have brought the business to the Chippewa Valley. Big Papa BBQ is serving distinctly Southern wood smoked BBQ, fresh off the smoker onsite.

We look forward to serving you, Herbie and Amy Sevier
